Focusing On This Season
Good Morning,
I would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas. This year I have been trying to focus even more on the real meaning of Christmas and thinking of how it all started in a manger and continues on today with a Living Savior. What a tremendous opportunity we each have as Christians to use the Christmas Story as an open door to extend Christ to the community around each of us. This last Sunday morning, I was priviledged to enjoy the presence of God in a rejoicing way. After the special song "Mary did you know" the presence of God swept down on the church and we had a wave offering to Jesus. I rejoice that the Babe in the Manger, is the one that Lives and Reins. From the Manger to the Cross...Let us rejoice in the Christ of Christmas.

Christmas Dinner
>> Saturday, December 8, 2007
We have returned from our yearly church Christmas dinner. After too much to eat, a lot of great fellowship and a lot of fun and laughs, we all collapse and the Christmas Season has just started. Pamela my wife did a fantastic job organizing the dinner, and I know she could not have done it without the help of all the Sunshine Committee (Becky, Monica, Dorothy) and also Tina deserve a BIG THANK YOU.
The men of the church won for the second year in a row, THE PILLOW CASE STUFF! It was quite comical seeing the men put on a pillow case, but we did it.
I would like to invite everyone to our Christmas Sunday here at the Fairmont Bible Methodist Church. We are having our Children's Program December 16th @ 11:00 am in the am service and a Cantata in the pm service @ 6:00pm. If you need anymore information please email me at pastorpowell@netzero.net
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

Huckabee For President
>> Friday, December 7, 2007
I would like to introduce you to Mike Huckabee. After watching the Value Voters Debate in Ft. Lauderdale, and then in Washington D.C. I have truely decided, this is where my vote is going. I have been encouraging every Bible believing Christian to take a serious look at Mr. Huckabee. Pray for the 2008 presidential elections, and vote your beliefs.

Its Christmas Time
Good Morning,
It is Christmas time and the snow is falling. After two days with the kids being out of school and all the excitement of the snow we received, the kids went back to school today. It is still very cold, and snowing but it makes it seem like Christmas now. We are in the midst of the busy time with church dinner this Saturday, practice for the Cantata, and then trying to make it back to Indiana around Christmas time. I believe I would like to forego all the presents, and just enjoy visiting with friends and family at Christmas and truely remember why we celebrate Christmas.
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.

Youth Camp
>> Saturday, July 14, 2007
We made it back from picking Stephanie Payne and our son Joshua up from CCYC youth camp. I heard great reports of what is happening there. It sounds like it was a very successful youth camp. It is amazing to hear the different perspectives of different youth. Our son never seems to express himself much. He says, it was ok, or it was good, when he is asked, but give him a little time and the energizer bunny starts running. We are still looking where to take the batteries out. It is wonderful to hear him talk of different youth he has met.
We are now prepairing for our Heartland Youth Camp. My wife and I will be team leaders and it is going to be exciting. It is an honor to serve God and impacting the lives of our youth. I trust God will give each of you a blessed day.

A long time since last post
>> Tuesday, July 10, 2007
Hello,
I admit, I need to do better at keeping this blog updated. We got back late last night from dropping our son Joshua and another teen from our church off at CCYC youth camp in Thomasville NC. After meeting several friends and catching up real quick Pam and I made the 5+ hr drive back here to Fairmont. I count this a very small sacrifice to get my children to places where there are youth that I want them to build relationships with. We trust everyone has a great day.
